What is this Michigan Union that comes among you and asks for a life membership? "The Michigan Union for Michigan Men Everywhere." This is a pet phrase and tells the story, completely and fully. The Michigan Union is Michigan. It's Michigan's personali- ty, Michigan's better self, Michigan's democracy, Michigan's cosmopolitan- ism. WHY? The Michigan Union is Michigan be- cause twenty-eight hundred Michigan students have become members. Be- cause it serves Michigan for Michigan alone. In twelve months the Mich- igan Union has entertained 60,000 persons. It has staged 600 separate and distinct social events, dances, din- ners, lectures, banquets and meetings. It has twenty-eight hundred volun- tarily paid memberships. There is nothing like it anywhere else! MR. STUDENT! The Michigan Union is asking you for a life membership because you need it and it needs you. You need it, because you need Mich- igan. You are not a Michigan man for four years only, but for all time. The life membership will be a lasting, a permanent and indissoluble bond be- tween you and Michigan. It will be your memorial to Michigan. You will need the Michigan Union as a home when you return to class reunions, football games-or what not-and you will return often. You will want some place to hang your hat and mix withe Michigan men and your classmates. 1 The Union needs you because youI are a Michigan man and the Union is for all Michigan men. The Union needs 2 for 25 cents TROY'S BEST PRODUCT your small contribution because your contribution added to the contribu- tions of other students and the con- tributions of alumni will make the new clubhouse possible. Your contribution will be the talk- ing point. Show that you want and deserve the new Union and the alumni will do the rest. LET'S GO MICHIGAN! The Union must have 2000 life mem- berships, two thousand promises to pay, this year or next or five years. hence, but it must have the promises. The promises will be as good as the cash for collateral securities. Michigan has 4,500 men to get 2,000 life memberships from. Besides this Michigan has more than four hundred faculty members to canvass. And the city of Ann Arbor has some five hun- dred business men who have shown Michigan loyalty in the past. THE POPULAR PLACE SCHOOL SUPPLIES By a recent amendment to the con- stitution of the women's league, the membership dues have been raised to 50 cents instead of 25 cents a year, the increase being necessitated by the enormous growth of activities and ex- penses of the league during the past few years. It has not been considered advisable to enforce this new amend- ment during the present year, but many women have expressed their de- sire to pay another 25 cent fee for the second semester of this year. The aid will be greatly appreciated by the league, and payment should be made as soon as possible to Irene Bigalke or other officers of the organization. * * * The women's Dramatic association will give its first "major hall" play on April 30, according to plans now being formulated by "The Masques." A small admission fee will be charged, the proceeds of which will go to pay for staging, properties and books. The name and cast will be announced lat- er. Rehearsals are now being held for the first "minor hall" play, "Ici On Parle Francais," which will be pre- sented at the women's league- circus tomorrow afternoon. The next open meeting of the asso- ciation will be held on Thursday, Feb- ruary 19, instead of this afternoon, as formerly announced. Foresters to Take Civil Examinations. The forestry department has receiv- ed notice that the civil service exam- inations for forest assistant will be held in Ann Arbor on March 11 and 12.
