We confess that we missed this brilliant all-university function, last wveek. Next year, we would have the J-H1op again, not because it is tho J- Hop, but because it is the all-univer- sity social event. Let's have the J- Hoop next year, but a hop in different clothes, under a more efficient form of management. Ml(ihigan 'does" not care to have the most brilliant dance in the land, but Michigan does need .the socializing influence of an all -university custom. We wonder if the J-Hop was legislated out of existence because of its apparent extravagence, or because of its cosmopolitan nature.' If for the latter purpose, we should be inclined to complain bitterly. If for the form- er, then reformation, not abolition, woulid seem to be the wiser course. Th is year's legislation had the effect of simply breaking up the universi- Factnt'Concert. Missa Mary Angell of Chicago, a niece of President-Emeritus Angell, will contribute several piano numn- bers on the February faculty concert of the school of music. The concert will be held on Wednesday evening in the high school auditorium. A change in the date from Thursday evening, the time originally annouinceda, was made necessary because of counter university attractions. Miss Angell has received the high- est praise as a pianist, both from musicians and the press. The Chica- go Daily Newvs andi the Inter-Ocean have been especially congratulatory. Mlr. William Howland and Mr. Sam- uel Pierson Lockwood will appear in solo numbers, while Mr. Albert Lock- wood, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Pier- son Lockwood, Mr. Antony 3. W hitmire and Mr. Richard P. Hall, wgill contribute Sinding's Quintet in I. minor. "'Dlmaged Gioods." In addition to the scheduled even- ing performance of "Damaged Goods" at the Whitney theatre tonight, a matinee will be given at 3:00 o'clock this afternoon. So much has been said and written about Brieux's pow- erful play that further discussion. is futile. It is' sufficient" to say that Richard B~ennett has provided an ex- cellent cast, prominent among which are Howard Hall and Isabelle Win- locke. For the matinee, reduced pric- es are annountced.
