--ixie club, an organizatioi of south-
ern students, held a smoker at the
Union last evening. About 50 mem-
bers. were present. The regular busi-
ness meeting concluded the smoker.
t --Fresh laws will give their inaugural
dance at 9:00 o'clock tonight at Gran-
ger's. Prof. J. H. Drake and Mrs.
'DBrake, and Prof. F. N. Durfee and Mrs.
Durfee wil chaperone the party. Fish-
er's orchestra will supply the music

until 2:00 o'clock, and the admission
-will be $1.50.

has installed a new individual towel
'rack in University hal. A set of
fresh towels are fastened to a rod,
convenient for use. After the towels
are soiled, they are ;pushed down a rod
to a hook at the bottom of the device,
from which they are collected daily.
If the laundry bill is normal, the rack
Will porbably be placed in all the
buildings on the campus.
-Four new baskets have been placed
in Waterman gymnasium during the
vacation for the use of the interclass
basketball teams. There are now six
that can be used for practice, while the
regular games will be staged on the
old court in the middle of the floor.
-New Years greetings will be ex-
changed at the social to be held in the
parlors of the Baptist church at 8:00
o'clock tonight.
-Half of the 10 tickets placed on sale
yesterday for the weekly membership
dance at the Union had been sold last
night. Those remaining, may be se-
cured at the desk today.
-The fourth round ii the Union
bridge tournament will be played to-
night in onjunction with the regular
weekly Lounger. About 25 couples
have played in at least one round, thus
far. The scoring is being done on a
basis of averages, so that those who
are not able to play every round will
-not be handicapped.
-Pr'of. Tobas J. C. Diekhoff, of the
German department, addressed the
men's section of the Deutscher Verein
at its regular meeting last night. Mar;
tin Feinstein, '14, read selections from
modern German literature.
