Although the exact figures of the loss are not obtainable, the damage is placed at several hundred dollars. MANY MEMBERS OF FACULTY ATTEND VACATION MEETINGS Several Are Honored by Election or Appointment to Important Positions. Nearly two score of University of Michigan professors and instructors attended various educational meetings and conventions throughout the coun- try during the Christmas holidays, and at two of the meetings Ann Arbor men were honored by election or appoint- ment to important positions. Prof. S. P. Tatlock, of the English department, was chosen one of the three vice-presidents of the Modern Language Association of America at its convention held at Harvard Universi- ty at Cambridge. This association has a membership of nearly 1,200 men Eleven Michigan professors attended this convention and the meetings of allied associations. Professors Cross and Van Tyne were named to important commit- tees. of the American Historical asso- ciation at its convention held in Charleston during the holidays. Three Michigan professors were present at this convention. A dozen faculty men from Ann Ar- bor were present in Chicago at the semi-annual meeting of the division session of mathematicians while sev- eral were present at the session of the American Association for the Ad- vancement of Science, held at Atlanta.
