on a yard, so all the leading jobbers tell us. That will
a difference of about eighty seven cents on the amount of
that goes into a suit. Not much, is it?" No, of course not."
t week we took advantage of a special price offered trs by
abte jobber, a price far less than the difference in the tariff,

WilY PE rrHE EASTi
Editor, The Michigan Daily:
I have followed the affairs of this
university for ten years. For tenr
years, whenever campus problems
have come up for solution, 1 have not-
ed, times without number, in The
Michigan Daily, in the Michigan Alum-'
nus, and at the Michigan mass-meet-
ings, this cringing sentiment: "They
do it that way in the East."
Whly this persistent provincialism?
Why be forever aping the east?
Our graduates, the world over, <ju ty f m d or her es re a ea
and individuality.
In athletics we rank with the fore-
most.
We are no longer a provincial , "Big
Western" state university. W1e are a
great cosmopolitan institution. Our
students come in large, and increasing
numbers from all sections of the coun-
try; our students are recruited from
the four corners of the earth. We are
a national, and we are an internation-
al university.
We have shed our sw\addling clothes.
We are 76 years old? We aire able to
solve our own student problenms.
Why ape the East"~
Let's turn the Alleghanies toward
Ann Arbor. Let's work out our own
solutions. And let's do things in the
Michigan way.

On the grounds that the publication
is distributed among the high schools
of the state and not on the camps,
that the majority of the adivertising

not be considered at campus lpublica-

the situation expressed thei belief that
the publication of the papter is outside
of their jurisdiction.
