Townspeople, faculties, and students alike, I think, are in sympathy with this idea. Let there be bonfires, mu- sic, speeches, dancing, and shouting. But why stage these (as the writer in yesterday's Daily suggests) in the congested limits of the down town district. Why do we have forty acres of athletic fields and play grounds if not to provide a place for all kinds of outdoor interests? Stage the celebra- tion of victory on the field of the battle itself-on the gridiron or other sec- tion of Ferry field. Here there is room for participants and spectators WILLIAM E.
