Representa- tives from all colleges and universities in the United States will be present, and the convention itself is und-r tbes leadershin of John R. Matt, who chose this great work in prXcc to ac- cepting an ambassadorship from Pres- ident Wilson. In order that the university wom- en may learn more about this work and its great possibilities, the usual Sunday afternoon meeting, at 4:30 o'clock in Newberry hall, will be de- voted this week to a discussion of the plans and purposes of the convention. All university women are earnestly urged to attend. A social hlour with refreshments will follow the meeting. A late communication from the Uni- versity of Indiana tells of the success- ful work done by a council compos- ed of sorority chaperones, and land- ladies of women's houses, together with the dean of women. It has been suggested that such a "council of mothers" at the University of Michi- gan would fill a long felt need. If the cooperation of the women's physician could' be obtained, such a council might be made instrumental in world ing out improvements which could make for ideal living conditions for university women. There is a similar need at Michi- gan for the organization into a coun- cil of the presidents of all women's societies such as the women's league, Y. W. C. A. and Mortar Board. It would seem that an organization of this kind ought to promote closer unity of feeling and a better spirit of cooperation in the work that is to be done on the campus. An enjoyable children's party was given by the women's league in Bar- bour gymnasium yesterday afternoon. Seniors and freshmen alike put off their college dignity and romped with youthful glee. Children's games and dancing formed the entertainment. A large number was present. Senior society will entertain the new senior women at an informal par- ty this afternoon in Newberry ha 1.
