COMEDY CLUB ORDERS )FOUR NEW "SCARECROW" SCENES Arrangements have just been com- pleted with the Whitney Scenic and Costume Co., of Detroit, to supply the costumes and settings for Percy Mac- aye's "Scarecrow," to be presented De- cember 10, by the Comedy club. The compaify has promised to begin work immediately. It is absolutely neces- sary that four entirely new scenes be constructed, for this is the first de- mand for these settings in this section of the country. By way of a definite departure from the methods of producing all former plays, this season's show will be put on the boards .exclusively by universi- ty talent. If the present plans do not miscarry, no, one, who is not connected with Michigan, either as a professor or a student, will have any- thing to do in shaping the destiny of the play. A makeup artist has been discovered, who is sufficiently versed in the craft to obviate the necessity of sending outside for help. A rehearsal of the entire cast will be held today at 4:00 o'clock in the Cercle Francais rooms. VEREIN DROPS SIX WOMEN FROM MEMBERSHIP ROSTER Six women were dropped from mem- bership of the Deutscher Verein at the meeting of the women's section of the organization last night. Three or more consecutive absences from the regular meetings, and failure to pay membership dues are the reasons giv- en for the decisive measure. Two of the deposed members were guilty of both offenses, two failed to pay the fees, and the other two had not at- tended the Verein meetings more than three times. TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS AT UNION PARTY DECEMBER IS Minstrel scenarios, stunts, musical numbers and jokes are called for by the committee working on the Christ- mas celebration, to be given by the Michigan Union, Thursday night, De- cember 18. At a meeting of the com- mittee last night, a minstrel show in two "reels" was planned. The even- ing will be a general "mixer" before the vacation. Two performances will be given, and possible features for the intermission are a rapid cartoon exhibition and a sleight of hand stunt. Any student may submit ideas for the celebration, and complete scena- rios are especially needed. If the committee receives adaptable jokes and music they will be incorporated in the accepted scenario. All mate- rial must be handed in to the Union before Monday night. MID-WEEK DANCES WILL BE DISCOURAGED BY COMMITTEE Mid-week dances will be discourag- ed and week end affairs will be given a free reign, in regard to closing time,. This is the latest development in stu- dent attitude regarding the mid-night closing of social functions. The committees representing the campus societies and the different de- partments and classes, expressed this. sentiment at its meeting at the Union' yesterday afternoon. No definite ac- tion was taken. It was voted to meet again Friday afternoon at the Union at 5:00 o'clock. At this next meeting resolutions will be drafted, incorpor- ating the idea ot unrestricted week' end dances, better music and a change in the present system of chaperones.
