Presents Schumnann Program. A program devoted exclusively to songs by Robert and Clara Schumann, was presented by William Howland yesterday afternoon in a historical re- cital at the school of music. What the audience lacked in numbers, it made up in intelligent appreciation of some very good singing. As Mr. Howland remarked in a pref- ace to his concert, the Schumann songs are among the loveliest ever written. To interpret them prep erly,1 a singer must infuse into his music, energy as well as- delicacy. Thce dualities Mr. Howland expressed to a satisfying degree. A feature of the concert was a song by Robert Schumann entitled "B~elsat- zar," which has never been suns in Ann Arbor before. In this number, which proved to be strongly dram atic, Earl V. Moore's accompaniments de- serve especial mention. "Witlhi the Law." Owing to the large number of peo- 1)1e who were unable to see "Within the Law" when It appeared at the Whitney theatre last month, a return engagement of Veiller's thrilling play has been arranged for Wednesday, I Wh i t n e y - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ONE NIGHT THURSDAY 2 NOVEMBER The daintiest and most delightful of all musical' plays.
