Meeting of Cub's Club at 4:30 this ;ifternloon WE WISH IT WERE TRUE. The Michigan Daily ran a story yes- terday morning to the effect that Earl Moore had written a song on the cam- pus phimes. Subsequent investigation has proved the story to be without foundation. An exuberant reporter conceived the idea, he thought such a thing worthy and he chose Mr. Moore as the most competent to perform the ser- vice. Only, we wish that it had not been a "story," that it hadtnot reached our news columns by some inexplica- ble mistake. A mistake once made can hardly be corrected. We can only insure a rem- edy for the future. The reporter has been indefinitely suspended from the staff. In the meantime, we can only increase our carefulness and thus win back your confidence, which for the time being has been imposed upon. We apologize. But the reporter did have a good idea; he did choose the right person.' We wonder if anything will come of it. THE FINAL POW-WOW. For the last time this year, the Michigan rooters will gather on Fri day night to practice Michigan yells. It will be the last pow-wow of the year. Speakers, especially primed for the occasion, especially precious to Michi- gan, will be on hand with spicy, ten minute talks. Never will these Michi- ganders plead before an audience more eager, more sympathetic or enthusi- astic. OUR FRIENDS. These are hard times for Bush Tail. Hunger drives him out upon the snow clad ground, where sustenance is scarce and difficult to secure. The northerly winds, prematurely cold, L ONG ON GOOD POINTS by the makers of TROT'S 1508T PRODUCT LAIRD'S MODERN REPAIR SHOP The Shop on the way down town. 214 East Washington Street drive him back to his nest, chilled to the marrow, his hunger still unsatis- fied. Seldom does a winter season pass, that serious inroads are not made in the ranks of our campus friends. The sufferings of the squirrels are doubly. cruel, because we who cause them, do it innocently. All of us are deeply solicitous of their welfare. But we are a little careless, we are prone to leave them to the care of others. Everybody's bus- iness is nobody's. And so the horrible, useless slaughter goes on. Some day, some person or some or- ganization, will undertake to care for our campus pets. When that time comes, when someone becomes person- ally responsible, we will no longer see them, starved and neglected. TRADITIONS COMMITTEE. The person, .who conceived the idea of a freshman tradition committee, ap- pointed from the freshman class itself, has a long head. The conimittee has a big job on its hands. If successful. the results ob- tained will be worthy of the gargan- tuan effort. The entire campus will watch the work of this committee with the greatest interest. THUNDER AND LIGHTNING. W ..have not yet heard the new Hawaiian battle cry. If we are to learn it at all, we must make a start on Friday light. Rumor has it that it is a wild, savage slogan. We will need just such a yell on Saturday. The team will need it, and we will need some outlet, some big outlet, for our pent up enthusiasm. Those, who know, say that this new battle cry will fill all these needs. FOOTBALL GAIRGOYLE TRYS TO SOLVE CONFERENCE QUESTION ' Why did Michigan vote "No" on the. conference question? This is the puz- zle which the Gargoyle has undertak- en to solve for its readers, in the num- ber to appear next Saturday morning. Not content with challenging the di- verse opinions on this subject, the Gar- goyle will cast the gauntlet at the feet of the student council, by throw- ing the spot light upon the obscure intricacies of council proceedings. The added feature of a new initial series by E. Maguire, '16, will begin in the coming football number and I continue in the following issues.
