"One-Opposed-to-Begging." LOCAL EXHIBIT CONTAINS WORK OF FAMOUS ARTIST. Two score or more of pictures by Alexander Robinson -and many art vases of the Pewabic and Markham designs constitute the show at the fourth annuAI fall exhibit of the Ann Arbor Art association, which opened Saturday. With one exception, all the pictures are water colors, but Mr. Robinson uses a technique much like that of oil painters, painting on col- ored paper. At a distance it is hard to distinguish his work from oil paint- ing. The Pewabic vases are all simplea Indian patterns, and .the Markham pottery, more fancifully decorated has the characteristic metallic sheen. Only members were present at the opening reception. Musical numbers we-re given by Miss Emily Sadler and Miss Grace Johnson.. Over two hundred people vis- ited Memorial hall Sunday and about the same number yesterday. The ex- hibition will continue until Nov. h and will be open to the public daily from 9 to 12 in the morning and 1 to 4 in the afternoon, and on Thursda; and Saturday evenings of this week from 7:30 to 10. . Power Plant Testing, a manual of testing engines, turbines, boiler pumps, etc., by Professor James A. Moyer, of the mechanical engineering department, which has only been off the press three weeks, is receiving a favorable reception among engineer- ing men and the faculties of engineer- ing colleges. Several of the leading technical schools have adopted Prof. Moyer's book for advanced work.
