"Jimmy" Craig has been running the first team at the quarterback job and is getting his part down fine. He. is the fastest man on the squad this year, having won the annual races that marked the closing day at the lake; and the only bridge that he has to pass now is that all-important test of an actual game. There he will have a chance to show if he has the head-piece to hold down the job. Pickard is in the fight for the place, and is in better shape than he was last fall. Hubel has also been given several chances to make good; and if he can handle the team he will be a valuable man, as he is still remem- bered for the wonderful form he dis- played on the All-Fresh two years ago when goals from the 40-yard line proved easy for him., Thomson Is there with the Punts. Thomson is getting better direction on his punts and is in much better condition than at the same time last year. He is working much harder and looks like the best bet for the fullback job. Meek is punting as far or farther than "Bottles-;" but he gets neither the direction nor the height so well as does the older man. Carpel has been playing very regular- ly at right half and Torbet at left, but the last few practices at the lake were marked by the shifting of Wenner into the fight. He 'has been tried at both sides of Thomson, and he surely is fast. Herrington was in bad shape at the lake; but he astonished the fans and also the coach Saturday when he drop-kicked out on Ferry field from every conceivable angle with remark- able accuracy, though he had done no drop-kicking whatever at the lake. He joined the squad late, and is still a bit rusty on the signals. Roblee, a big husky man who was'on the Re- serves two seasons ago, is going to make an awful fight for a tackle job. He is also a abit soft, but this kind lof weather will harden him up rapidly and he will bear watching. Otis is out on the squad and has been playing center on the second eleven. He is in good, condition, is passing well, and .has a good knowledge of the game. He is charging better than ever, and really looks good for a Var- sity job if he will "fight 'em, you know.". t STUDENTS COME FROM AFAR TO ATTEND SUMMER SESSION (Continued from page 3) C. 'F.Hodge, of Clark University, the exponent of the "Swat that Fly" movement, was secured to deliver an extra number, "The Typhoid Fly." The Ben Greet players gave three performances. Referring to the Wolverine, the offi- cial publication which replaces The Michigan Daily during the summer months, Prof. Kraus said, "The Wol- verine, under an able management, demonstrated to all possible sceptics, that it was no longer an experiment. It was a big success!" BESIMER'S GRILL - Charcoal Grilled Porterhouse Steaks, 113 W. Huron St..
