COUNCIL DOES NOT
ALLOW FRESH CLAIM
Similar Conduct on Part of Protesting
Class Renders Protest
Void.
WILL DINE AT UNION SOON.
The protest of the freshmen in the
heavy weight tug-of-war contest that
the sophs wound the rope around a
tree was not allowed by the Student
Council at a meeting last night, as it
has been ascertained that the fresh
were also guilty of the same practice.
The pushball contest was not awarded
so the score of the contests stand 4-2
in favor of the sophomores.
It was voted to have the cover of the
push ball repaired and Councilmen
Gibbs and Dickinson were appointed
as a committee to look after it. The
committee was also empowered to dis-
pose of the bladder as they see fit, as
it is beyond repair. The Council 'vot-
ed to write Parke Davis and Company
that the pushball would not be repair-
ed in time to be rented to them for
their outing on June 11.
The new constitution of the Council
provides for the election of represen-
tatives for the ensuing year by the
classes in the spring instead of in the
fall. It was, however,- votedto have
the elections take place next fall as
usual, as the new constitution has not
been finally approVed.
Councilman Van Dyke was instruct-
ed to secure a date for a dinner at the
Union some time next week for the
last get-to-gether of the present Coun-
cil. The election of officers for
next semester and a short business
meeting will be held at that time. .

be quartered at the Waynewood hotel
until time for the opening event on
Friday.
Michigan is sending the largest team
to the Intercollegiate that she has ev-
er entered in the eastern event. Not-
withstanding the various set-backs
that the Wolverine track squad has
experienced, the men are out to make
as fine a showing as possible for the
Maize andBlue. .All kinds of predic-
tions have been made concerning the
showing Michigan's athletes will
nrake. The safest prediction that can
be made, however, is that the men who
will wear the Maize and Blue running
uniforms at -the Intercollegiate will
exert themselves to the utmost to take
honors for Michigan.'
Michigan's track team deserves a
rousing sendoff. The Michigan stu-
dent body will be on hand at the Ann
Arbor station to speed the team to the
Intercollegiate.

That the Michigan Union employ-
ment and rooming agency that will be
established next year will be perfect-
ed to its fullest efficiency is now an
assured fact. Committees chosen
from students who have already done
work for the Union have been appoint-
ed by President Blish to take charge of
active work on the work next fall.
Active work on the plans will be
started at once. At a meeting last
night, the parts of the city that had
not been canvassed for information re-
garding rooms and board by the Anni-
versary Celebration committee, were
assigned to students, to secure the
necessary information. By this plan
the work will be in shape for the open-

Whitmore Lake will be the mecca
for the junior lits and engineers on
Thursday. A program embracing many
novel features has been announced,and
a jousting tournament will be held,,
which will be a startling departure
from the customary chivalric bouts.
Instead of mounting fiery steeds as in
the days of King Arthur, the .valiant
knights will take their places in ca-
noes, two in each, and with long poles
will try to overturn the craft of the
opposing warriors. Dinner will be
