SStrenuous work was given the Mich- igan track men yesterday afternoon in the nature of a handicap meet. No of- ficial records of the performances were kept and no time was given out by Dr. Kraenzlein, but nevertheless' the events proved of especial interest to a good-sized crowd of track sup- p~orters. The feature of the afternoon was the fact that Ralph Craig, candi- date for the American Olympic team, furnished competition for Michigan's sprinters in the dashes. Craig ran two 100 yard dashes with the Michigan sprinters, with all the men starting from. scratch. The for- mner star Michigan dash man showed that he retains his old form, and set the student candidates for track hon- ors a lively pace. Bond and Seward were given a. handicap of a few yards, and showed Craig a warm race, though the latter won it. Lapsley was° bruis- ed slightly when he fell at the finish of th e second 100 yard dash. Kohler and Smith, Michigan's weight men, showed improved form over their previous outdoor work. Haff and Reck ran a good race in the quarter mile event, finishing first and second in order, running from scratch, In the mile Hanavan came' in third, running from scratch, but Cray and Smith who came in ahead of him had good sized handi- caps. Haimbaugh had no opposition in the two mile, but ran a good race against time. One other event, the broad jump, served to create interest. Co^''n made the best record of the day as he topped Warink when both were leaping under the same conditions. A number of events were dispensed with. Dr. Kraenzlein will decide the per- sonnel of the Michigan team. probably Tuesday evening, as the men will leave for the east on Wednesday. The work Monday and Tuesday will wind up the home season of practice, though the men will get to Penn in time to work out at~the scene of the meet. you lose and eoe,; you will lo.;,- becaus~e t.hc-",,imXster 'railor-, of Chicago and New High-grade made-to nnea surc suit of sup-em msyle. quality and Ri- nrd tailored in tI, clean, h althful and sanitary conditions at a tprice $:) to $'10 ltess than you usually pay mor made, hndn-nio downs, will co t you.
