GADSKI, SETS A HGH MARK FOR CONCERTS Big Audience Hears End of Last Night's Program With Open Reluctance INTERPRETATION WAS ORIGINAL. University Hall was filled with echo last evening when, her voice rising superbly on the joyous surge of Mrs Beach's "The Year's at the Spring," Madame Gadski ended her recital. And the huge audience filed out, reluctant and enthusiastic, after a rarely per- fect exhibition of vocal art. The Chor- al Union has begun its series on a plane which it will be difficult to maintain. It would be superfluous to enter into a detailed discussion of the voice and technique of the famed soprano. Pure, fluid, exquisitely intoned, her voice is a vehicle for a fine, subtle, and truly characteristic mode of interpre- tation. It has the perfect singing qual- ity: it floats on the melody of a song so delicately that voice and melody become one. Schubert, Schumann and Brahms-she sings them ideally. The "Erlkonig," which she has made her own, was given as an encore. Mr. Schneider played the accompani- ments with beautiful tone and much sympathy.
