REEVES LEAVES FOR NORTH TO GIVE LECTURES. Prof. Jesse S. Reeves of the Political Science department, has gone to the northern peninsula to deliver several University Extension lectures. Tonight he will speak at Manistique, tomor- row night at Munising, on Lake Su- perior, and Friday night at Gwinn. He will return to Ann Arbor next Sunday. WISCONSIN PROF. TO SPEAK BEFORE SIGMA XI SOCIETY. Prof. Geo. C. Comstock, of the Uni- versity of Wisconsin, will address Sig- ma Xi, the honorary scientific society, next Friday evening at eight o'clock, in Sarah Caswell Angell Hall. His subject will be "The Visible Universe as a Subject of Current Speculation." Following the address, the men recent- ly elected to membership will be ini- tiated. Registrar Hall Is Inspecting Schools. James Cleary acted as toastmaster and called on the following: Professors H. M. Bates, H. L. Wilgus, and R. W. Aigler, and G. A. Cram and G. C. Grismore. The affair was in honor of the ten new men who were recently elected to membership. Thirtty-three members of the society were present. Stanford Botanist Will Lecture. Dr. George J. Pierce, professor of botany at Leland Stanford Universi- ty, will lecture today in the Econom- ics lecture room at 4:15 on "The Effect of Smelter Fumes on Vegetation." Dr. Pierce has recently been investigating this subject for the United States Gov- ernment. While in Ann Arbor he will be the guest of Dr. Frederick C. Newcombe.
