What has become of the.,old fashion-
ed underclassmen, who used tom get ex-
cited about the,.rush?
It is announced, that .tea will be
served after the .polite little, affair that
is to be staged on our brick lined
playground this morning but never-
theless we nurse a vague but persist-
ent belief (we will not- say dread)-
that somebody will get rough andl get
his 'feet in the sugar bowl.
While we do not wish to descend to
the purveyal of sporting intelligence:
during this intellectual repast we are
constrained. to remark that our ath-
letic staff to the contrary notwith-
standing, we don't. recollect_ a time
when this Ohio State bunch failed ton
provide some entertainment for the
eleven Wolverines who wandered
across their path and we do recollect
a couple of instances when we climbed
aboard the itinerant vans of our jes-
teemed Ann Arbor Railroad and buipp-
ed back from Columbus happy over a
three all. count.

TWO 'THOUSAND SEEDLINGS
ARE° PLANNED BY WOODMEN.
Fall plantings'".are being made at
the forestry farm, three miles west of
the city. Yesterday, afternoon about
2,000 seedlings were planted, the dif-
ferent species being white and red
oak, white pine, Norway spruce and
locust. More plantings will be made
today.
The work is being. done by about 30
fourth and fifth year foresters, under
the direction of Prof. Roth and In-
structors Leigh Young and Whiting
Alden.
These plantations will furnish ma-
terial, for growth study of fall 'plant-
ing, as compared to spring planting.;

For some time The Daily has felt
that the student body desired more
systematic cheering and the choosing
of a cheer leader who was satisfac-
tory to, themselves. Accordingly, The
Daily tried, and with some measure
of success, to have the existing con-
ditions changed. Cooperating with the
Student Council, the Athletic asso-
ciation has placed the choice with the
voters. This afternoon a number of
candidates will be given a chance to
tryout as masters of cheering. They
may be new and unaccustomed to the
job and their work may not be per-
fect. This is but natural. But, now
that the choice has been left to you,
the rooters, it is up to you to get be-
hind the movement and assist'the can-
didates to the best of your ability. Get
behind and boost; don't knock. Upon
the. success or failure of today's ef-
