McKay, '12 dent, the Military Board of the state of Michigan will not purchase a monoplane, to be used in connection with the military maneuvers at the annual camp this summer. The rea- sons given by the board for such a decision are long and detailed, but the main point is to the effect that at the present time the expense of buy- ing such a machine would be too heavy a burden on the military fund. In addition to this objection, the board does not wish to assume the risk in case of accident. McKay, who is captain of the Ypsi-. lanti company of the National Guards, had recommended to the board the purchase of an aeroplane which he was to fly for experimental military purposes.
