BUSINESS MANAGRE r Albert I. Dil ic WEDNESDAY, MAY 8, 1912. Night Editor-C. Harold Hipper. Stage Swing-out Earlier, In the second semester, filled as it is with numerous and large events, it is almost impossible not to have con- flicts. But when there is a conflict, especially when two big events hap- pen to fall upon the same day, both should be so arranged that there will be a minimum of conflict. This hap- pens to be the case Thursday when swing-out, one of the big events of the. year, and the baseball game with Syracuse, a big game on the home schedule, come on the same afternoon. According to present plans the swing-out will start at four 'clock.' This n,'eans that it will not be over until five o'clock at the very earliest. The Athletic association has done all in its power to avoid conflict, and has shifted the game back to the latest possible starting time. Even then they are taking a chance of losing the game because of darkness. It is now up to the committee in charge of the big senior event to shift the swing-out forward far enough so that it will not conflict. It may be done by starting the event at three o'clock sharp. Even then there will be a slight conflict. If arrangements are not made to hold the swnig-out earlier, both events, stand a chance of being spoiled to - a considerable extent. The swing-out will be marred because several hun- dred seniors, who expect to see the ball game, will not be in line. They will be absent from the swing-out. in order to do their duty by the ball team. On the other hand many others who want to see the ball game will be un- able to do so because they believe they should swing out. The solution remains. Change the swing-out to three o'clock. The num- ber of seniors who have late afternoon classes on Thursday is not so consid- erable that the event cannot be stag- ed an hour earlier. The Ineligibles. Those who saw the nine that faced the Varsity Monday must have felt the desire to see it in frequent action. It played real baseball and was good to look upon. The men who comnpose it are future Varsity players and should be encouraged as well as given the benefit of constant competition. Why cannot the Michigan Ineligibles face the Illini nine of somewhat simi- lar character? The Illini aggregation has expressed a desire to compete on Ferry field and the fans would appre- ciate such a contest during the period the Varsity is in the east. Remnants 1-4 off. REVIEWING STAND SUGGESTED. By barring all but costumed soci- eties, the participants in the pageant parade, that is to be given for the Sev- enty-fifth Anniversary guests, were re- duced to the members of eleven cam- pus organizations by the parade com- mittee yesterday. The action was tak- en with the intention of making the march as nearly representative of the spectacular side of university life as possible. The eleven organizations that will take part in the parade in fanciful and original dress are as follows: Michi- gamua, Druids, Vulcans, Barristers, Sphinx, Griffins, Triangles, Chinese, Cosmopolitan, Forestry, -and Rocky Mountain clubs, Review Stand Is Suggested. Suggestion was made at the com- mittee meeting, of erecting a review- ing stand in the vicinity of the Memo- rial building, to be occupied by Pres- ident Hutchins, the deans of the vari- ous departments, and distinguished visitors. According*to the plan,'each society would stop before the stand and sing its song or present a part of the initiation ceremony peculiar to the particular organization. Many Types Will be Represented.
