At the first open meeting of the Stu- includ- dent Council held last night it was de- are: Bided to hold the spring contests on Per. May 17 and 18. The rules of the con- .363 tests will be announced Monday by .353 General Chairman Picard. Th. re will .345 be a meeting of all freshman and soph- .341 omore class presidents to make ar- .325 rangements for the relays at the Unionj .301 tonight at 7 o'clock. .250 A committee with Saier as chairman .250 was appointed to set a fixed date for .206 the annual spring contests and Cap .196 Night so that in future years all ar- .162 rangements will be made with a def- .111 inite date in view. .090 Considerable discussion took place .000 over a motion by Saier to have a com- .000 mittee appointed to discuss plans for a .000 confiscation day. "Confiscation day is .000 a farce, as it is opposed to the spirit .000 of the university," said Trix. "It will be impossible to enforce it, as all of .296 the classes are scattered" declared Burge. "It would be more effective to have the men of the freshmen classes work among themselves." The motion lost by a decisive vote. EROfficial sanction was granted to John H Payne by the Council to publish an official souvenir program of the spring M eetcontests. Siple was designated by d ePresident Davenport to speak to the freshman engineers at their assembly today in regard to wearing of caps HTER. and of the spring contests. A report on the financing of the ay, al- band at other institutions was made by Pennell and accepted by the Coun- The secretary was authorized to write Councilman "Freddy" Gould a letter of sympathy. The Council then went into execu- tive session and all of the public was thereby barred from the rest of the proceedings. The next meeting of the Council will be held Tuesday night, May 7. Original P11n of Waiting Until is Unpopular With Present Senior Classes. 191,1 ADOPTION PROBABLE THIS YELAR Considerable discussion has been aroused among seniors in favor of the adoption of the uniform Michigan but- ton .tonce, rather than waiting unti next year. The original plan of the Michigan Union was not to issue the graduate button until June 1913, but it is likely, as a result of the discus- sion, that work will be started at once by the Union officials in selecting the insignia. A number of styles have already been suggested, butthe pne which has been received with the most favor is a snm 11 round badge of blue back- ground with a yellow M in the center. It l also probable that the gradu- ate button which will be chosen will be placed on sale for the alumni dur- ing the Seventy-fifth Anniversary Cel- ebration. In this way the button will be given a wide circulation at once, and in a few years should become a well known Insignia for Michigan ten. The Union will probably plan to give the button to seniors who take out the life memberships and will sell it to non-members for a nominal sum. Manager Heath and President Blish both expressed themselves as heartily in favor of adopting the button at once, so it is highly probable that the matter will go through. DENTS SUCCUMB TO FRESH LAWS IN SECOND INTERCLASS GAMES Junior Engineers Vanquish Sopho- mores by One Run; Ilomeops The second series of games in the interclass tournament was played off yesterday at South Ferry field, it being the first appearance of any of the competing teams. The widely herald- ed fresh laws came up to expectations, and easily defeated the nine from the dental department, while the soph en- gineers were crowded out by the junior engineers by the narrow margin of one run. The homeop-pharmic game was also close, the former team scor- ing but one more tally than their op- ponents. Summaries: '14 L, 11; Dents R.
