I MUSIC AND DRAMA
"The Price?"
Helen Ware will make her second
appearance in, Ann Arbor as a star
next Monday, May 6, at the Whitney
theater. For her medium this season
Henry B. Harris has selected a three
act modern drama by George Broad-
hurst, entitled "The Price." The piece
is serious in theme and in the part of
Ethel Toscani, Miss Ware is said to
have a role that gives her unusual op-
portunities for displaying her emotion-
al gifts.
"The Price" has to do with the mar-
ital relations of two couples. An ar-
tist, married. unhappily( is attracted
by his young secretary, who does not
resist him. She later falls in love with
another man, and when she acknowl-
edges this love to the artist, the shoc
kills him. Later, circumstances com-
bine which bring her former indiscre-
tion to the knowledge of her hus-
band, wose rn unciation of her is in
strict accordance with the way of the
world.
The hudson theater production is
promised, and the cast includes Har-
rison Hunter, Jessie Ralph, Roy Gor-
don, George W. Barnum, Gertrudle
Dalton, and Robert H. Hudson.
"TiLe L_,e Tale of Ho--man."
"The greatest success of recent
years" is the verdict not only of New
York and Chicago, where "The Love
Tales of Hoffman" has been heard in
this country, but also in London, Paris,
Berlin and other music centers of Eu-
rope where this wonderful opera is the
rage.
"The Love Tales of Hoffmann" is one
of the few comic operas that has ever
been allowed at Covent Garden, Lon-
don, and when the Sheehan English

Opera Company secured the English
perfor ding rights to this masterpiece
it acquired what is without doubt the
one great success of the season, and
one which is setting a new standard in
America for comic opera.
"The Love Tales of Hoffman" will
be heard at the Whitney Theater Sat-
urday, May 4, at the evening perform-
LUCC with Joseph F. Sheehan, Amer-
ica's great tenor, in the leading role.
At the matinee Balfe's delightful opera
"The Bohemian Girl" will be given.
Majestic Theater.
The inside working of a vaudeville
employment agency will be the basis
for a funmaking vehicle that will be
the star turn at the Majestic theater
for the first three days of the current
week. The Five Bragdons are a com-
pany of singers, dancers and comedi-
ans that are said to be one of the best
attractions in the way of a vaudeville
act ever brought, to the Majestic thea-
ter.
