AND DRAMA I x. a ., A . . I Faculty Recital. Miss Ethel Smurthwaite and Louis Cogswell of the School of Music facul- ty gave a joint recital last evening in Frieze Memorial hall. The hall was well filled with an audience which evi- denced enthusiastic appreciation of a really fine and enjoyable program. Miss Smurthwaite brings to her singing not only a finely-tempered voice of beautiful quality, but an inti- mate feeling for the spirit of her songs. Mr. Cogswell's voice is roman- tic in coloring, with fullness and depth of tone; and he sings with much sym- pathy. The solo and duet numbers were equally well given; and the ac- companists performed effectively their part of a delightful evening. FIFTREN YEARS AGO TODAY.
