AND DRAMA 11 'I i I Faculty Recital. prop- Duets for contralto and soprano are esin- highly pleasing, but when sung by inter- those whose voices blend so perfectly as does Mrs. Jessie D. Reed's and Miss Ada Grace Johnson's, they are ce in particularly so. from Both singers gave their numbers with splendid artistic qualities and a satisfying interpretation. Probably the most satisfactory number on the whole program was the duet "Prayer" from Humperdinck's "Haensel and Gretel." Both artists sang their sweet- est and best in this number. Mrs. Reed was most artistic in Schumann's "Du Ring an Meinem Finger," while Miss Johnson, although singing the have Puccini arias with splendid effect T TO pleased the most in Wolf's "Zur' Ruh," 11 you and Spross' "Will o' the Wisp." She have was forced to repeat this number as was Mrs. Reed in Daniel's descriptive, "In the Dark." "Doctor De Luxe." *n that charming musical comedy of ppiness "Doctor De Luxe" Joseph Gaites has shown himself a master ertainer by giving everyone some- ng he wants. For that large class o admire feminine beauty there is ne Hazelton, who is undeniably utiful in a sugary way, and there is >rgia Kelly whose personality has pungency of allspice. For those o crave humor there is the delightul >llery of Ralph Herz. For those nor loving folk too, that care for icing there is Polly Prim of the lliant eyes, humorous mouth and el- uent feet and ankles. They who en- music will find agreeable strains in Hoschna music. LITS AND ENGINEER SOPHS 4INGLE TOGETHER AT PROM. Beneath the silvery rays of mellow lights nearly three hundred lits and engineers mingled harmoniously in the tangled maze of the Soph Prom last night. The rivalry for tickets which developed between the two classes at the eleventh hour found the committee barely prepared for the increased at- tendance. Gowned in early spring creations of the modiste, the fair guests lent a wealth of light and color to one of the daintiest affairs of the year. Without the introduction of special or unusual feature's, the party was suc- cessful as a class affair. Even the grand march was omitted in the effort to make the function less formal. The armory, where the function oc- curred, held the dancers till a late hour last night. The chaperons were Prof. and Mrs. Percy Ash, Dr. and Mrs. Arthur G. Hall, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred- erick Jordan. Cornell Draws on Athletic Fund. The recent report of the Cornell Athletic Association shows that foot- ball and baseball failed to balance the losses sustained in the other lines of sport. The crew lost $10,000, track athletics lost $7,000, while football gained $5,000, and baseball $1,000, thus making it necessary to resort to a sink- ing fund to meet the expenses.
