The Dental Faculty Association of American Universities will hold its annual meeting at the Dental college next Monday, January 22. Six univer- sities, Harvard, Minnesota, Iowa, Cali- fornia, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, are members of the alliance, and each will be represented at the coming con- vention. Papers will be read by the represent- atives, and discussions will be held as to the conduct of the universities. The colleges named have a uniform nine months yearjy course, standard ad- mission requirements, and a specified curriculum which is considered strong- er than that of other schools. The as- sociation hopes to strengthen the cur- riculum and standardize dental edu- cation, not only in this country, but also abroad. ANN n " ages usually devot-I een turned over to . Every organ- ization comes forward with its initia- tive function. The women are told of the glories of the university and all that sort of thing. Then the attractive members of the student body, or at least the ones who know which fork to use from half a dozen, drop into sororities; the brilliant ones are picked up by Omega Phi, by Senior Society, or various honor organizations, and the majority fall into the honored posi- tion of just being the mass of the stu- dent body. As a rule the typical member lives in a small room, boards around the cor- ner, and says "how do you do" to the1 other women in the house. Is it sug- gested to do social service work fori the "maids" of Ann Arbor? I think1 we might apply it right here. It is a dull thing to grind unremit- tingly. The student with a conscience1 is bound to do it, if there is nothing to pull her away. Here is my suggestion:1 Why not have a greater number of fac-- ulty receptions? Surely our profes- sors could spare a few minutes and by1 this association make the subject1 which they teach more vital to the4 student. November 9, and November 23 are the two available days and the contest will be played at Philadelphia. It is also practically certain that Cornell will appear on Ferry Field November 16, and this will be the big game at home. Syracuse is Y.W.C.A. Dates Carrie Jacobs Bond.
