Seemingly Rameses has awakened for the last time as the Detroit alumni report that it "will -be impossible for' them to finance the production of the opera in their city this year. The loss of the trip is regrettable in more ways than one. It leaves the opera as the only one of the university activities of its size that is not in part' recon3- pensed for the time and energy expend- ed on it. The athletic teams of course travel, the musical, clubs are but now returning from- what should have, beeii one of *the pleasantest trips ever taken by the combined clubs, and the comedy club ,will in all likelihood again, pro- duce its play= in Detroit this winter.! It is to be hoped that another year' will see some definite arrangements started in time to insure the trip and that it may be an annual affair for those who give of their time and en- ergy so unstintingly to make the, opera a success I town talk 'What time did you wake up stiff' last night?. It is no doubt true that he ha s iot learned the lesson of life who has notj experienced and, surmounted a great ssorrow., It is also true that we should all face death and witness death' with courage and should know of a certain- ty that no evil can happen to a good m~an either in life or in death. But when one is bereaved of his father, as Robert Tipping has been, it is hard in- deed to find comfort in the encoturage- mHenat taigIiltoll to' "argue not Agzainst.
