Ec o g Student's Di-

of what a di-

vice- which this valuable little
v rk .performns. If it is possible, and
we are y-et to be convinced that it is
impossible, the directory should be
ready to serve the student body some
time during -November. In a book
of permanent character, where there
is ample opportunity for repeated
proof reading, accuracy, which ,c
work alone can secure, is more than
desirable. As a measure of conven-
ience the phone number of every stu-
dent who resides where there is a
phone should be placed in the proper
place opposite his name and the task
of referring to the list by streets not
left to the users of the book to be per-
formed continuously and repeatedly
throughout the year.
_When the time comes to plan for tho
1912-1913 book the conditions should
be so arranged that it will be possible
to secure desired results. Responsi-
bilities should alto ube fixed so that
they will not be shifted from publisher,
to patron. to printer, and back to pub-
lisher again as they were this season.
It is not for us to state what the inter-
nal arrangement of the directory staff
should be but we do feel that those
in authority owe it to the student body
to provide an organization that will
secure results.

Who1 can say it isn't worth while to
attend a senior lit dinner when one
can see the cultured graduates putting
cr'eam and sugar in the bouillon.
Latest among our reportorial acqui-
sitions comes ('. L. Kuan, of Shang-
hai, who took his first assignment to-
day and bids fair to rival "Turk," the
Count of Killarney, "Scoop," our New
Orleans police reporter, and the Buse
Mfanager, who comes from Kansas.
