When "The Girl in the Taxi,"that mer- riest of all laughing successes which created a sensation in Paris and scored the greatest triumph of any play of its kind produced in this country last season and which comes to the New Whitney Theater Saturday, December 2, matinee and night, was put in re- hearsal, the greatest care was taken to overlook not even the smallest detail in equipment and atmosphere. In this scene two rooms are fhown instead of one, which per- mits of the development of the funni- est climax ever devised on the stage. John Stewart, the banker who pretends to possess all the domestic virtues in his home, is making merry with a par- ty of chorus girls. In the adjoining room, Bertie Stewart, his son, is keep- ing his first "date" with a woman whom he had but recently met. The climax comes when the father, over- flowing with the joy of his midnight lark, decides to invite the people in the next room to join his own party and, upon opening the door, discovers that the chief reveler is his own. inno- cent son. Majestic Theater. The demand for seals for the Thanks- giving Day performances at the Majes- tic theater is very heavy and patrons will do well to buy tickets in advance and avoid the crowds at the box office. There will be a special matinee Thanksgiving Day at three o'clock and seats can be reserved the same as at night. The new show for the latter part of the week will open at the mat- inee performance. So they have asked to have representation on the Board of Directors of the present1 Students' Christian Association, com- prising the Y. M. C. A. and the Y. W. C: A. They want sixrepresentatives, in- creasing the membership of the Board to fifteen. There are eleven members your on the present Board. Though the Ista1 Board had a meeting last night, it de- t3an- cided to do nothing definite until after hing another meeting with the ministers, and decided to make no statement for publication. The arraigning clergy- s surpris- men also feel it best to print nothing store lIke official until after another conference with the officers and directors of the Association.
