and "The Commuters." The play
which depicts the many phases in the
life of a chorus girl of today, is unus-
ual. in treatment and dramatic in cli-
maxes. In Patricia O'Brien, Mr. For-
bes has created a character new to the
stage and one that will live for a long1
time. The second act, picturing the
dressing room of the Broadway Thea-
ter, New York, is very striking and
creates a sensation. The company pre-
sentingthe piece here will be one of
the best obtainable and a beautiful
production will be shown.

Peuito Arriola.
Pepito Arriola, the wonderful Boy
Pianist, who will give a recital at the
Whitney Theater on Friday, November
10, does not wish to be considered as a
child prodigy, and boldly assumes to be
judged purely as an artist. This is a
distinction to which his phenomenal
gifts clearly entitle him.
His technique is marvelous,especial]y
considering his age, and he is capable
of making the most finished tonal grad-
ations and otherwise mastering those
forces which raise creative musical
thought to its most artistic expression.

Alumna is Writer of Poem.
"Survey" for November 4th contains
a poem entitled"The Hotel Messenger,"
y Hortense Flexer, a recent .alumnus.
The charming verses portray the lit-
tle Italian imigrant boy amid his duties
and lonesomeness as a bell-hop in
America, the land of his adoption. Miss
Flexner received her master's degree
in 1910, having graduated from the
university three years previously. Her
home is in Louisville, Kentucky.
