According to city traffic data, Erickson's location near the cor- ner of Hill Street and State Street has the 15 h highest crash rate of the nearly 1,200 intersections in Ann Arbor. - "I saw a kid get his on his bicy- cle yesterday, as a matter of fact," Erickson said Thursday. "And 91 reported traffic accidents took place at the corner of Hill Street and Street Street, with 21lin 2007 alone -- and that high number isn't exactly unique to that loca- tion. Some of the most traveled streets and intersections around campus also happen to be some of the most dangerous in the city. PODGES DailySports Writer OMAHA - Michigan men's swim- ming and Club Wolverine coach Bob Bowman understands the ups and downs that come with the .S. Olympic trials. Just the top two fin- ishers in each event can qualify for the U.S. Olympicteamand inasport where the difference between win- ners and losers is measured in hun- dredths of a second, ups and downs, are inevitable. "You know, it has to be really disappointing for it to be really great," Bowman said. "That's just the reality of it, and you can't have one without the other." And this year was no exception. Swim- ming superstar Michael Phelps dominated the headlines during the trials by setting world records in the 400- and 200-meter individual medleys and winning each of his eight events. Phelps will now have a chance to break the record for most gold medals in one Olympiad. Swimmer Mark Spitz holds that record. He won seven gold medals at the 1972 Munich Games.
