Finalist selected for VP of communications

The University announced July
23 that David Lampe will become its
next vice president of communica-
tions if approved by the University
Board of Regents in September.
As vice president of communica-
tions, Lampe will oversee the Uni-
versity News Service, Public Affairs
office, Freedom of Information
office, publications, speechwriting
and the design and content of the
University's webpage.
Lampe's appointment comes after
a five-month search conducted by a
search committee of professors and
administrators formed after Lisa
Rudgers announced she was step-
ping down from the position to start

her own consulting firm, University
spokeswoman Kim Broekhuizen
said in an e-mail.
Lampe will work closely with
University President Mary Sue Cole-
man,ProvostTeresaSullivanandthe
deans of the schools and colleges.
"Everybody is looking forward to
him coming on board," said Univer-
sity spokeswoman Kelly Cunning-
ham.
Broekhuizen said that Cynthia
Wilbanks, the University's vice
president for government relations,
will temporarily fill the position
before Lampe's final approval, and
will help through December to ease
the transition.
Lampe is the executive director
of marketing and communications
at Harvard Business School.

free of charge to all readers. Additional
copies may be picked up at the Daily's office

in September, via U.S. mail are $110. Winter
term (January through April) is $115, yearlong
(September through April) is $195. University
affiliates are subject to a reducedsubscription
rate. On-campus subscriptions for fall term
