See page 2. OPINION From the Daily: Credit limits Of all the things the Univer- sity needs right now, motorcycle parts and home electronics aren't near the top of the list. But that's what the University got because of the lax oversight of Univer- sity-issued credit cards. With the prospect of the state further cut- ting higher-education spending, hopefully the University's credit- card problems won't translate into less state funding and higher tuition. See page 4. At about 1:20 a.m., the victim told police two men approached him on Lincoln Avenue near Hill Street while he was walking from a party at a friend's house to his residence on State Street, an Ann Arbor Police officer said. One of the two called out for the victim's attention and asked him for directions to Granger Avenue. Police said after the victim said he was unable to give the men direc- tions, one of the men pulled out a black handgun and demanded the victim give him all the money he had. While the victim stood still, the second man then reached into the victim's pocket and took his cell phone and his wallet, which con- tained $19. The suspects told the victimto lie onthe ground before they ran south on Lincoln Avenue, the crime alert said. The victim got up after hearing the men leave and called Ann Arbor Police. Granger Avenue is in the direc- tion the men ran. Lincoln Avenue dead ends at Burns Park, but begins again on the other side of the park that Granger Avenue runs along. While the area where the incident occurred has mostly student resi- dents, Granger Avenue has several expensive homes and little student housing. The Ann Arbor Police Depart- ment sent information about the incident to DPS because of its prox- imity to University students, the officer said. The victim told police that the men were of average build, about six feet tall and wearing black hooded sweatshirts with the hoods up. Police ask for anyone with infor- mation about the incident to call their tip line at (734) 996-3199. - Jessica Vosgerchian contributed to this report.
