Several people involved with the incident were also present during a fight an hour earlier at Bell's Pizza on Packard Street and the shoot- ing might have been related to what happened there, Kinsey said., "The motive is still under investi- gation," he said. "But the proximity in time suggests it was involved with Bell's." Police had received a report at 3:07 a.m. concerning 10 to 20 people fighting at Bell's, but when officers arrived at the scene minutes later everyone involved had left, Kinsey said. Because the victims said they drove to Ypsilanti between being at Bell's and the apartments on Ged- des, and because an hour passed between the two incidents, police think the second encounter, while related, was coincidental and not the result of one group having fol- lowed the other. LSA senior Han Row, a resident of the apartment building, identi- fied the other car that was shot in the parking lot as his black 2002 Jaguar, a gift from his parents. Row said the shooting woke him up, but that he thought the sound was something falling down the build- ing's metal stairs. In the morning, he woke to find that bullets had shattered the back window and pierced the trunk of his car. Both the fight at Bell's and the shooting are under investigation. At least one victim of the shooting came forward to police today. Kinsey said two injured individuals involved in the fight came to the police station to report the incident at 5 a.m. The two then received medical treatment at the hospital, but they did not need to be transported by ambulance. Police are asking anyone with information about either incident to call their tip line at (734) 996-3199.
