Y AN INGPHOO EDITOR 18 bands, 13 hours, two stages and one mission: Leave fans with as little energy as pssible by the end of the day. For 10 years, Ozzy Osbourne and his wife Sharron have broghtmai-stge ame aswell as up-and-coming metal acts to the masses on a sum- mer tour that's momentum seems unwaivering. Uniting legendary acts like Iron Maiden with festival rookies like A Dozen Furies has been their formula for success. Breaking the early morning silence of the DTE Energy Music Theatre at 9 a.m. were the overy anxious second stage acts. Ozzfest virgins were given a chance to prove their worth, and repeat acts proved they still deserved their time slot. Fans cheered, bodies flew into each other in the mosh-pits, and crowd surfers floated their way toward their idols as the temperature rose and rain showers began to descend upon the sweat-soaked masses. As the sun began to set, so did the crowd, as the main stage acts brought the festival to a close. Screams were exchanged for the awe-inspiring vocal ranges of Bruce Dickenson and Ozzy Osbourne. This was a festival for everyone. From the hot-topic infused teens to the middle-age rocker dads, this tour brought smiles to all and families together for a A E:igreo mao ero day of musical euphoria. ative The Black Dahlia Murder put in a west-drenched performance for his local rowd. The black-metal quintet is quickly ecoming a front runner in their genre fer launching just their second full i ngth release "Miasma." EFT: Frontman Rob Zombie took the age with a new hair color and a cleaned- p image. Filling his set with classics panning all the way back to his days in bite Zombie, the singer pandered to a4 ide variety of concert goers. Zombie is ut in promotion of his second theatrical elease "The Devil's Rejects." AR LEFT: Guitarist of A Dozen Furies and inner of the MTV reality TV show "Battle r Ozzfest" Marc Serrano put in the most nergetic performance of the night, mak-1 g sure the crowd knows that he earned is a' spot on this tour with hard work ~n determination.
