SHORT-TERM DIETSTUDY
Research Study Volunteers Needed
Healthy overweight male and femaleevolun-
teers needed fur reserch study to evaluate
the short-term effects (2 days) of diets con-
taining different amounts of fat on muscle
metabolism. To qualify, you must be 18-45
yrs old, 25-65 pounds overweight (Body
Mass Index 27-35 kg/m2), inactive
(<2hrs/wk. of exercise), and not taking any
regular medications (except women may be
taking birth control). The study includes
thr eseparate ovenight visits to the Univer-
sity of Michigan Medical Canter, invalving 3
days and 2 nights per visit. Small blood and
muscle tissue samples will be taken during
these hospital visits. Compensation for com-
pletion of the entire study is $375. Payment
will be prorated by participation. Other bene-
fits include: free health assessment including
body composition analysis, measurement of
blood lipid profile, and a resting energy as-
sessment. Upon completion of the study, par-
ticipants also have the option of attending a
personal nutrition assessment and consulta-
