Runner-up Colby lost to winner Tina Wesson in the 4-3 vote on last Thurs- day's finale of "Survivor II: The Aus- tralian Outback" The 27-year old Texan won the final immunity challenge and could have voted out Tina and taken dis- liked chef Keith Famie into the final jury vote, where jury members said Colby could have easily squashed Keith. But Colby's motherly love (This is a buy who slept in the backseat of an Aztek with his mom) proved more important. He kept true to his alliance with Tina. "I wanted to slap him," Machiavellian "Survivor I" winner Richard Hatch said in an ETonline report, arguing that-Colby made a stupid, emotional mistake. But Donaldson may have accomplished something greater in bringingTina along instead of Keith, and it only cost him $900,000. Nice-guy Colby could reap plenty of rewards for his nice-guy finish in the show. Rumored already is a multi-mil- lion-dollar contract with an apparel com- pany, that could make Tina's $1 million look like peanuts in comparison. Nice guys seem to finish first in the game of post-Survivor endorsements. TEXAS TREACHERY?: Several internet VCR-freeze framers are crying foul over the Texan's huge winning streak of challenges that enabled him to reach the final two. According to a sur- vivornews.net pictorial report, the Colb- ster took off both of his carabiners at one moment during a rope course reward challenge in episode 11. Host Jeff Prob- st's rules clearly stated that one carabiner had to be on the ropes at all time. SURVIVING SOME MORE: "Sur- vivor III," a treacherous romp on an African safari in Kenya, will begin this fall. There are rumors that the network is considering a celebrity version of the show for a fourth installment. Ray Romano and L.A. It looks as if once again Janet and her production crew of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis can prepare for a platinum plaque. All For You is pleas- ing enough to gain that honor. Grade: B god Anubis in exchange for The Scorpi- on King's victory on Earth. The bracelI is the key to power over the army of Anubis (which is comprised of sword wielding dog demons) and will also unleash The Scorpion King, who will most likely be in a bad mood after spending a few thousand years in the underworld. Meanwhile, a plot to reawaken Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo), the evil crea- ture from "The Mummy," is afoot, for only he is powerful enough to def8 The Scorpion King and take control of his army. Since neither character would be a desirable leader for a powerful army of the underworld, the O'Connells are swept into a race against time that brings them back to Egypt. The movie is chock full of action sequences that are enthralling and visu- ally stunning, but is so focused on ti visuals effects and the action itself that there is not much in the way of charac- ter development. The dialogue is also a weak point, as it is not only cheesy and unbelievable, but is somehow too modern. It's missing the subtlety that can make or break an action movie, and although there are a few solid lines, most of the dialogue seems only to fill space between exp- sions, tidal waves and mummy attack Writer/director Stephen Sommers made several other critical errors when making this film. First of all, the plot relies too heavily on the first filn, and very little of the sequel feels fresh and new. On of the most egregious flaws in the film is that the protagonist has family. The whole point of actio adventure films is that the hero has no ties. Think of James Bond, or our favorite whip-toting archaeologist. Live msicreatfod "and a visit to Ancient Eypt.
