distinguish his book from the millions of
other sex manuals on the market. On the
first page of chapter one he states, "[This
guide] doesn't have pictures that look like
they were taken from a cadaver, and it
doesn't hide behind a wall of fancy sex
terms or read as though it were written by
Mr. Rogers." This sort of condescending
approach to other sex guides results in
quotes like "some books on sex are guilty
of excessive clitoris worship." But in gen-
eral, the condescension is justified - the
book makes a great achievement in mak-
ing sex funny while remaining a useful
Needless to say, the book's comprehen-
siveness makes for uneven reading, with a
fesv chapters barely worth flipping
through, such as a discussion of sex in
relation to religion. But as a technical
manual, the book has moments of bril-
liance. "The Zen of Finger Fucking," for
instance, is downright inspired in all its
flicks, moves and motions of your five
(and sometimes ten!) little phalanges, so
much so that the practiced reader is bound
to reach enlightenment and begin speak-

ing inter-vaginal sign language without a
problen. Likewise, the many quotes from
real men and women sharing theirown lit-
tle techniques are also useful, although it's
hard to heed lessons such as "my mouth
and hand work as a team" without laugh-
ing. Then again, perhaps that is the point.
The book definitely has a few biases
that the reader should be aware of. It
speaks from a very liberal point of view,
encouraging parents to say things like "It
feels good to touch yourself down there"
when their five-year old is touching his
genitals. The book seems to have a pro-

found hatred of circumcision, comparing
it to cutting off one's eyelids. (The chapter
on the subject is called "Circumcision -
The Penile Calataity.") Notably missing is
a chapter on orgies, which may not seem
like a glaring omission, except that else-
where the book devotes eleven pages to
sex during menstruation and eleven more
to "The Importance of Getting Naked."
It is a little difficult to classify this book
in a particular genre. It is not a coffee-
table book, unless you happen to live in a
frat house; it isn't just a sex guide, with its
discussions of relationships, love, mar-
riage, and children. Its lively and sponta-
neous style precludes it from being a ref-
erence manual. Ultimately, the book is
about all things that come out of intimacy,
and that makes it as hard to define as the
word itself But definitions aside, the
books delivers what it promises - it is a
great guide for getting it on, and a little bit

new material, the wait is over. "BB
Queen" offers listeners an audio
treat without all the sexual induen-
do that has become associated with
feraale emcees.
First of all, it's important to note
that this is not a full length album.
It's a seven track EP. Sure, a few
more tracks would have been appre-
ciated but Bahamadia offers quality,
something sone of her peers can't
do (see Lil' Kim).
On "Special Forces," she con-
nects with Chops of the Mountain
Brothers and the Cali Agents, Rasco
and Planet Asia. For the most part,
the track is aimed at all the wack
emcees who occupy hip-hop's main-
stream. Verbally, all four hold their
own yet corne together to signal the
strength that can be found in under-
ground hip-hop. To go along with
the strong lyricism is head-nodding
production that is aimed to please.
"One-4-Teen (Funky For You)"
features Detroit's underground sen-
sation Slum Village. The song
includes the infectious hand claps
that occupy just about everything
produced by SV's Jay Dee, but it
causes no complaints. Bahamadia
