Partnership-Fair Labor Association, a
government supported group of corpora-
tions and human rights organizations
aimed to monitor the apparel industry
and eliminate unfair labor practices and
unhealthy working conditions.
Department of Labor spokespeson
Carl Fillichi sa id the AIP-FLA is cur-
rently the only widely-suppsorted initia-
tive to addressing sweatshop labor.
Fillichio said te AlP-FLA coalition of
corporations and human tights groups
etmpowers the partnership.
"These are some of the most respected
human rights groups" Fillichin said.
But protesters said enrprate involve-
ment in the AIP-FLA only serves so aid
profits rather than worker rights.
Additionally, protestera said the lack of
support from religious groups and orga-
nizations like te National Labor
Committee discredits the AIP-FLA.
