Sure, songs like "Nookie," "Break Stuff" and "9 teen 90 nine" are trademark Limp Bizkit songs with crunching down-tuned guitars and freestyling hip-hop lyrics simi- lar to their debut album "3 Dollar Bill Y'all." But on songs like "Re-Arranged," "Don't Go Off Wondering" and "A Lesson Learned," where Durst actu- ally sings instead of the usual screaming and rapping, displays a new and unexpected side of Limp Bizkit. Durst's new found vocal ability comes courtesy of Stone Temple Pilot's Scott Weiland who was roped in by Durst as a vocal coach for this album. The guest appearances don't stop there, "Nobody Like You" features Durst singing with Weiland and Kom's Jonathon Davis. Another col- labortaion is a straight hip-hop song with Wu Tang Clan's Method Man on "n 2 gether now." The song does a really good job showcasing the two artists's freestyling abilities. With "Significant Other," Limp Bizkit has produced an album full of arena-ready songs that will have them leading a new generation of heavy music fans straight to the bank. Ian Dyament Hypocrisy Hypocrisy Nuclear Blast America Hypocrisy's new self-titled album plays like a compilation tape of what's hip in the European metal underground. The band is not satisfied with merely playing one style of music, but instead does its best to emu- late styles ranging fron doom to black metal.r Simplicity in rifling seems to be the order of the day however, as most of the tracks find guitarist/singer, PeterTagtgren, utilising uncomplicated guitar rifling to get his paranoid sci-fi lyrics across. This works well on certain tracks. "Elastic Inverted Visions" for instance, is arguably this album's best track with its memorable riffs and mid pace delivery. Tracks- like opener, "Fractured Millenium" however, fails to deliver its potential impact because of its lack of gui- tar punch and an over-reliance on a key- board to carry the melodic hook across. "Hypocrisy" may not be the band's best effort, but it has enough worthy tracks to satisfy fans for now.
