Michigan has split with every Big Ten opponent it has faced except for Illinois, who beat them three times. The split leaves Freehan's ballclub locked in the conference cellar - the same place they've been all season. After splitting with the Hoosiers, Saturday, the Wolverines (10-12 Big Ten, 22-25 overall) won Sunday's first game, 8-7, but dropped the nightcap, 8-5. "That last game was a do or die game for us," Freehan said. "We needed a sweep today and we just didn't get it." The Wolverines nearly pulled off three wins, holding a 5-2 lead in the sixth inning of Sunday's second game. But Indiana (11-13, 31-20) sent 11 mento the plate during a six-run sixth inning. The Hoosiers collected five singles, three walks and one hit batsmen in the inning. "When we came back to win the first game, that was definately the high point of our season,' Freehan said. "And to have the lead like that in the second game and lose it was certainly the lowest." Arvai earned the win. Ryan Van Geveren and Weaver both homered for Michigan. Niemiec was 3-for-3 with three RBI. Saturday, Indiana won the series opener, 5-3.
