Fair DaLS

Art, commerce and tourism mingled on
the streets on Ann Arbor from last
Wednesday through Saturday in the
35th annual Ann Arbor Street Art Fair.
l1aybe mingled isn't the right word for
the chaos that occomponies the esti-
mated 500,000 visitors to the art fairs.
This year's art fairs began in a burst of
rain on Wednesday morning, turning
streets into a scaof umbrellas. Thurs-
daU was nicer, and by the weekend the
weather was ideal for strolling and
browsing the exhibits that lined Ann
Arbor's downtown streets. It brought
crowds, throngs of art buffs and non-
buffs alike, all drawn to Ann Arbor for
the largest fair in the nation. And for one
weCkendit lived up to its billing:
