Feeesh-Bone is Red Hot!
Hallelujah,brothers and sisters, the
wait is finally over! Yes, the time has
come for America's(ifnotthe world's)
greatest rock and roll band to bless us
with a new album. Those crazy con-
glomerates of all thatis good in music,
the one and only Fishbone, have con-
cocted what is sure to be a work of
brilliance, "Give A Monkey A Brain
And He'll Think He's The Center Of
The Universe" (that's what it's called,
honest!)
Ifitslast gift, the insanely amazing
"Reality of My Surroundings" (the
concept album that blew minds and

who were unable to comprehend its
depth, complexity andnear-perfection
-much likeLivingColour's"Time's
Up," but that's another story) is any
indication,thisone'ssuretobeadoozy.
In celebration of this holy event,
Columbia Records is sponsoring a
Fishbone release party next Monday
night, May 24th, in the basement of
Ashley's Bar(338S. State St.)from 10
p.m.until midnight. There will be CD
and t-shirt giveaways all night, and at

Come on down and hear what true

to be a blast. And buy Dave Gorman a
drink; you'll never find a hipper col-
lege rep around. See ya there,

two great flicks this weekend.
"Leolo," a Canadian film that's
raised abuzzdue toits racy story, starts
Friday at the Michigan. It chronicles a
young boy'sescapadesinEastMontreal
as he struggles with his family and his
own feelings of angst andalienation. It
sounds dark and dour, but don't buy it;
thismoviepromises to be amysterious
and appealing tale nearly on par with
the great Francois Truffaut's coming-
of-age movies.

Of course, there's also the odd mix
of"Aladdin"and"Pink Flamingos."If
you still have managed to avoid the
latest product from the all-time capital-

Disney, then count yourselfamong the
few. But the John Waters' B-movie
classic "Pink Flamingos" is a journey
through the senses that cannot be
missed.Asdisgusting and filthy as any
film in recent memory, "Flamingos"
stars the late, great Divine
("Hairspray").

as hell, starvin', being real thin. A lot
of people when they make it become
fat and shit. I've noticed that with alot
of my friends." Et tu, Tone Loc?
One of his first films, "Bebe's
Kids," was an animated feature he did
for his present children, ages two and
three. "I met the Hudlin Brothers and
they wanted a character, a kid that

always sounded like he was going to
the bathroom. I guess I have one of
those kind of voices."
There's still one role Loc hopes to
snag. "I'd have to be in the re-make of
'Superfly.' That movie is played-up.
It's a street movie. The soundtrack to
that movie is dope. I listen to it every
day. I know they already re-made it
once, but they need another one."
Although the "Superfly"
soundtrack receives a lot of play at

Tone Loc's abode, there's one album
that he's ashamed to admit he owns:
"My Ding-a-Ling," by Chuck Berry.
He's also notproud of his own second
album of a few years back, but with all
his new film projects and the upcoming
release, "Cool Hand Loc," it will soon
be forgotten.
Loc even gave me the heavily-
guarded secret recipe for a Funky Cold
Medina. I could tell you, but then I'd
have to kill you.
