"I have not been paid the settle- ment agreement," Jacobsen said. "I have also not gotten any of the instal- lation costs promised to me for last October's event." Ane Mre Pacea memberof the Jour'ia, sad that the pape submitte tj a ment reuest to teirfinancia office atr te press conference a- nounced the settlement. 'There was an administrative er- ror" Pace said. "The cheek has been mailed' Jacobsensconcerns, however, are not limited to the monetary issue. She said the Journalirejected her article on the pornography issue after they in- vited her to write it. In a Nov. 20ODaily article, Journal members said. "We have extended to her the opportuni tyto expresher views in our first issue." Jacobsen said she wrote and sub- mitted an article to the Journal, but was told it was unacceptable beeause of references to the censorship of her exhibit. 'Theyrejectedrnyarticle," she said. "Evidently, they just wantsa glossed- over version of the events that oc- curred'" She claims that the Law School is continuing a policy of censorship and abuse of power. "My concern is that these (mem- bers of the Journal) are undertaking the anti-pornography campaign of (Catherine) MacKinnon as their sa- ered eross," she said. MacKinnon is the University's leading expert on legal issues in por- nography. Pace saidthe Journal never rej ected the article, but instead demanded cer- tain changes be made before publica- tion. "We did not want an account of exhibit events that we did not agree with," Pace said . 'That would have forced us to write our own version of the incident." She said the Joumnal would aceept a revised piece, but said thata committee of 25 Journal members would again review it. Jacobsensaceusations are not lim- ited to the Journal. She claims that the Law School is not abiding by itssagree- mint to sponsor another pornography conference in the fall "Ithave notheard from (Law School Dean Lee Bollinger ) in over two months," she said. "t have not been told when the event will be, where it will take place or who will be invited to speak" She said she has invited writers Deborah Willis and Carol Vance, as well as New York performance artist Holly Hughes. "The Dean has not contacted any of these people," said Jacobsen. "I'm con- cerned that he is dragging his feet." Bollinger said that a new sympo- sium was not part of the settlement terms, but that it is his intention to see that the forum takes place. "We could justreinstalthe original exhibit in the Union," said Bollinger. "But I feel that a new exhibit would offer more educational value for stu- dents." He added that he tried to coordinate the event for sometime in March or April, but time constraints prevented the forum's scheduling until the fall. He said he has hired an administrative assistant to put the event together. "I do not feel that I'm dragging my heels," he said. i DAVID RHEINGOLDIDaIIy Two runners participate in the annual nude mile run through campus at midnight on the last day of Winter Term classes.
