Saturdaynight afterdeasing an errant
soccer ball into the Huron River,
The body of Rui Vanderlay, a
graduate student from Angola, was
recoveredSunday morning by divers
fromthe WashtenawCountySheriff's

about 8:30 p.m., when their ball was
klcked into the water. Vanderlay
waded into the 62 degree water and
attemptedtoswimaftertheball,which
had floated out 200 feet.
Observers saw Vanderlay obtain
the ball and begin his swim towards
shore. He made it100 feet, beforehe
disappearedunder the surface.Team-
