Dictionary: 1) aleaping insectsimilar

played by two teams of eleven players
each, using a ball, bats, and wickets.
Last weekend,theMichigancricket
club(definitionnumber two), defeated
both Illinois and the Troy Eleven, 63-
62 and 133-132, respectively.
Sunday at ElbelFeld, the Wolver-
ines faced the Fighting Illini for the
first time ever. Winning the coin toss,
Michigan opted to field first. Illinois
racked up 62 runs for nine wickets
(equivalent to outs) in 23.1 overs (an

In addition to its usual color fac-
toids and Larry King column, USA
Today offered something different last
week: a bevy of college athletics cov-
erage. In two studies compiled of ath-
letic departments around the nation,
the University of Michigan excelled in
one and didn't embarrass itself in the
other, either.
Using a point system in which the
top team in each sport receives 20
points, the 20th best receives a point,
and so on, the national newspaper
named Michigan as the top men's pro-
gram in the country. The Wolverines
compiled 80 points to easily outdis-
tance second-place finishers Florida
and Texas, who each had 67 points.
USAToday also publishedalistof
graduation rates for the 287 NCAA
Division I schools for the class that
entered school in 1986-87. Michigan
