Bernhard bemoaned Northwest Airlines for according her less-than-first-class treatment, while her monolgue mocked the audience for elevating her status above her own. Bernhard encouraged the audience to participate in the performance; placing two microphones in front of the stage, she said, "I want to get to know you people." Ironically, the fans seemed less interested in the comic herself than her relationship with Madonna. And when asked where she met the pop star, Bernhard sarcastically replied "In a dyke bar." But Bernhard ended her show on a surprisingly sensitive note; singing Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's "Woodstock," she suggested that the song's message is indeed appropriate for today's mixed-up world - underscoring the uncommon awareness which informs her nationally-known comedy.
