Programmer
This position is located in Network-
ing and Communications Systems at
Stanford University. Design, dev-
elop, test and package software
systems for the University-wide net-
work services in a highly complex,
multi-protocol network environment,
including both baseband and broad-
hand systems. Develup detailed
technical detign and implementatiun
strategies fus network management
and administration. Carry out these
duties with high degree of responsi-
bility for design integrity, and consis-
tency with overall SUNet architec-
ture. Start a project and follow
through, with minimal supervision, to
ensure timely completiun and
satisfaction of reliability and perform-
ance requirements. Supervine
graduate studentprogrammers, pro-
viding programming assistance for
various projects. Design and im-
plementation of Network Manage-
ment Tools for monitoring the
campus network.
Bachelor's degree in CS/EE or
related field plus at least two years
applicable experience, or the
equivalent combination of education
and experience. Working knowledge
of computer networking protocols
(e.g., TCP/IP and ISO) and relational
data-bases (preferably Ingres). In-
depth knuwledge of UNIX systems
and C prgramming language.Good
understanding of routing protocols
and familiarity with various network
design issues is desirable.
