MOVE watch
continues
PHILADELPHIA - Searchers
who already uncovered 11 bodies
yesterday pressed a search for
more victims in the rubble left by a
massive fire that erupted in the
battle between police and mem-
bers of the radical group MOVE.
Police also maintained a watch
over two other MOVE houses in the
wake of Monday's showdown at the
height of which police dropped a
bomb on the roof of the MOVE
house and a subsequent blaze
destroyed 58homes.
Eleven bodies and parts of
bodies, including those of four
children, were removed from the
ashes by searchers Tuesday
and Wednesday as residents, 250 of
whom were left homeless, stood
by.
251 Contras killed
MANAGUA, Nicaragua - The
Sandinista army said yesterday it
killed 251 Nicaraguan rebels in th-
warting a guerrilla attempt to
seize enough territory to call for
diplomatic recognition by the
United States.
But rebel radio claimed its
soldiers "put out of action" 604
Nicaraguan soldiers in the
fighting.
There was no independent
verification of either claim.
United ready for
strike
BOSTON - United Airlines and
4,900 pilots negotiated against a
midnight strike deadline yesterday
as travelers booked on the nation's
largest air carrier scrambled to
find alternate flights.
A strike by the Air Line Pilots
Association against United was
scheduled to begin early this mor-
ning. United carries 120,000,
passengers per day on 1,550
scheduled flights, serving all 50
states.
United said it had "contingency"
plans to continue flying with
replacement pilots, while the union
predicted "total chaos" in the
airline industry if a strike hit the
Friendly Skies.

ts and students that drugs were
being sold on school buses.

decision on Contras
PANAMA CITY, Panama - The
Contadora nations yesterday met

bases.
Honduran Foreign Minister

duras that there are no Contra
rebel bases in his country and
statements by his delegation to the
contrary during the Contadora
talks had been misinterpreted.
