The A's trailed 4-1 entering the seven- th, having managed only three hits off Toronto starter Doyle Alexander. But Bruce Bochte led off with a bunt single and Mike Heath tripled him home to chase Alexander. MIKE DAVIS singled off relief pit- cher Dennis Lamp, 4-4, to score Heath and Donnie Hill sacrificed Davis to second. After Rickey Henderson walked, Jimmy Key came on to face Dwayne Murphy, who tied the game with an RBI single. After Joe Morgan was retired, the A's went ahead when catcher Buck Mar- tinez was charged with a passed ball with Kingman at bat and Henderson scored. Kingman then homered to left. Bill Krueger, 6-5, got the victory and Bill Caudill worked two innings for his 19th save as Oakland won its fifth straight game, its longest winning string this season.
