She later teamed with Pam Shriver for a fourth straight women's doubles crown, defeating Kathy Jordan and Anne Smith 6-3,6-4. IN THE MEN'S doubles final, Americans John McEnroe and Peter Fleming successfully defended their title, defeating Australians Paul Mc- Namee and Pat Cash 6-2, 5-7, 6-2, 3-6, 6- 3. McEnroe will go after his third Wim- bledon singles championship and his second straight when he takes on fellow American Jimmy Connors in the men's final today. Connors also is a two-time Wimbledon champion. Navratilova's victories came on the 100th anniversary of the first women's contest played on these hallowed grass courts and marked her fifth con- secutive Grand Slam tournament triuimphs in singles and doubles. "YOU SEE ALL those past cham- pions and they've done it three or four times, maybe, and here I've done it five times," she said. "It's hard to believe really." The left-hander had nothing but praise for her opponent, who has won the singles title here three times. "I told her at the post-match ceremony that she still has one more Wimbledon championship in her," she said of Lloyd, seeded second here and ranked No. 2 in the world behind Navratilova. INDEED, LLOYD played one of the best games of her 14-year career and ripped through the opening three games, breaking Navratilova in the fir- st and third games in the blistering heat on Centre Court. "I finally reached the form I have been looking for all year. It's finally here and now I can say I want it again," Lloyd said. "After playing this final, it makes me want to play more this year. "But I did not play a good game at all . at 3-0. I got a little tentative, and with Martina you do not get many chances. Then when I did get a chance, she ser- ved great."
