Page 2 - The Michigan Daily - Thursday, May 5, 1983 TODAY No parking worries VER DRIVE around a block several times looking for a parking place E and wish you could park in a truck loading zone? For as little as $13.25 a year, Washington state residents can - with a truck licence plate. There are no restrictions against cars having truck plates, which allow motorists to park in a loading zone for up to 30 minutes. State law does require vehicles with truck plates to display their gross weight on the back, but the law is not strictly enforced. "You don't have to shop for a meter," says Michael Maeser, who has truck plates on his 1979 Ferrari. "And frequently, there's a loading zone right in front of the place you're going into." Teresita Batayola, a state Department of Licensing spokeswoman, said there are no statistics on the number of cars with truck license plates. "I don't think there's ever been a law against having truck plates on," she said. "I know we've been doing it for a number of years, at least since 1967."
